Project Mese - The Taltos

Project Mese is my ongoing personal project themed around Hungarian mythology, fairy tales and superstitions.
As I'm developing the story of Mese I'm shaping its inhabitants, and now I feel comfortable to show some of the character designs with you.

The Taltosh

The Taltosh is a person with supernatural powers, one of the specialists of the ancestral religion, born with extra bones like teeth or an extra finger. At the initiation ceremony around the age of 7 they get torn apart by fellow Taltoshes and but back together, in return they usually get some gift from the other side like seeing into the future, sense disasters, healing, ability to talk to animals and gain the ability to transform into a fiery avatar (mostly bulls) to fight the forces of evil while roaming the countryside.

They like to dance and play music and they have sick rave parties at those initiation ceremonies.

This time I've included some of my initial sketches I did over the years for a reminder that STORY IS KING, without it the designs are aimless.
Hope you like it.
